Crochet Heart Pillow – Easy Cozy Crochet Pattern

This cozy heart-shaped pillow is made from two matching heart panels joined together and stuffed. It’s an easy, beginner-friendly project using basic increasing and decreasing stitches.

What You Need

  • Worsted or bulky weight yarn (in your chosen color)
  • Crochet hook (Suggested: 5–6 mm, matched to your yarn)
  • Stuffing (polyester fiberfill), or a pillow form sized to match your heart shape
  • Yarn needle (for sewing pieces and weaving in ends)
  • Measuring tape
  • Stitch marker
  • Scissors

How to Make It

Step 1: Start the Two Top Lobes

Chain a small foundation and work a round of double crochet, increasing evenly to form two separate rounded bumps side by side at the top, similar to two small circles that will grow into the top curves of the heart. This forms the two lobes at the top of the heart shape.

Step 2: Join the Lobes and Widen the Panel

Once the two lobes are established, work a row that connects them together into one wider piece, continuing to increase evenly at the outer edges. This is where the heart shape starts widening out from the two top bumps into one connected panel.

Step 3: Work the Widest Point

Continue working rows across the connected panel, increasing at the outer edges only, until the piece reaches its widest point (Suggested: check by comparing it to the size you want your finished pillow to be). This is the middle section of the heart shape.

Step 4: Narrow the Panel to a Point

Once you reach the widest point, begin decreasing evenly at the outer edges of each row instead of increasing. Continue decreasing row after row until the panel narrows down to a single point at the bottom, completing one full heart-shaped panel. Fasten off.

Step 5: Make the Second Heart Panel

Repeat Steps 1 through 4 to make a second heart panel that matches the first one exactly in size and shape. This will become the back of the pillow.

Finishing

  • Place the two heart panels together with the “right” sides facing out, and single crochet or whip stitch around the outer edge to join them, following the curves and point of the heart shape.
  • Leave a gap of a few inches unstitched along one side before you finish joining the panels.
  • Stuff the heart firmly and evenly through the gap, pushing extra stuffing into the top lobes and bottom point so the shape looks full and even.
  • Close the remaining gap with the same stitch you used for the rest of the seam, then fasten off and weave in all loose ends.

Helpful Tips

  • Keep your increase and decrease counts consistent between the two panels so they match up evenly when you join them together.
  • Stuff the top lobes and bottom point a little extra, since these areas can look flat or cave in if under-stuffed.
  • Use a stitch marker to mark the exact center top point between the two lobes, so you can line up both panels evenly when sewing them together.

Final Result

A soft, plump heart-shaped pillow with clean curves and a defined point — a sweet, cozy handmade accent for any couch or bed.
